Any Regrets Going From a M3 to a Porsche?
This may be a very difficult question to man up to but do you have any regrets going from a M3 to any of the Porsches? Why?

Not at all, I drove M3's for 12 years, M3 e46, M3 e92, and my 991 C2S is a totally different machine, driving a Porsche is a totally new and great experience, just wished I could have made the change earlier

No regrets. But the only thing that really bothered me about my M3 was the Jet Black color and I can't fault M3s for a poor color choice on my part. Moving from a M3 to a 997 Turbo isn't a fair comparison though either. That said I had driven a 997 S and loved it. I kinda wish I started there.
It was easier to fit golf clubs in the M3...but that's about it. Everything else seems a notch better, and that says a lot because the M3 was awesome. The interior in the M3 was better. Except the seats, those were too high.

I've owned both (997s and E90M3) and IMO, the Porsche is superior in every meaningful way except every day practicality, if you're like me and you have a family.
I don't regret selling my Porsche because now I enjoy car rides and car events with my son and while I'm very happy with my M3, I won't be at all surprised if in a few years the BMW is replaced with another P car. |

i regretted going from an e46 M3 to a 996 TT. yes, the car outperformed and excelled over the M3 in pretty much every category, except daily practicality. I sold the 996 and got into an e92 M3. Which i ended up supercharging.
Depends what your needs are and exactly what you are comparing to. The 996 TT lacked the luxury comfort items i wanted....even compared to the e46 M3. 997 TT may be a different ball game, although it still lacks practicality IMHO.

M3 is an all in one type of car. If you don't need any practicality and can afford it...go for the pure sports car. Porsche, GTR (little bit more practical), corvette, viper, etc, etc.

Not at all. On another level performance wise.
Depends what you use the car for though. I track my car and the difference is clear on the track. M3 is a good all around car. Porsche is a great sports car. |

No regrets, and I love and always will love the M3.
I got rid of my E92 and planned on waiting for the next M4 to arrive, but needed something to hold me over and wanted to try something else. I drove my friends 997.1 C2 and loved everything about it. The rear engine is such a different feel, the front feels light as a feather (for better or for worse), and the feel of the car overall is much more raw (in my opinion). I ended up pulling the trigger on a 997.2 C2 PDK with Sport Chrono Plus. I wanted an S, but worked a killer deal on the C2 (although I will admit I went through quite a hesitation at first). Just as the others said, it depends on what you want and how much practicality you need with the car. I drove my M3 daily and it was a lot more practical. I want to get into tracking the 911 and it isn't my DD, so practicality wasn't an issue. However much I love Porsche, I will never rule out having another M3/4. Both are great. And seriously... check out that new Cayman S!

I haven't looked back since getting my 991 C2S. The cars is such a pleasure to drive daily, and is a total monster at the track. It really is worth the extra money.

Even before this thread, I've already been looking at P-car's a lot recently. After reading this thread, I guess I'm probably trending in the same direction. I think my next car may be a P-car.

I sold my E90 M3, just picked up a 991 C4S.
After driving it for a few weeks, I am really enjoying it, but you really see the difference in the pedigree when you are out on track.
