How do you get to the lock on the gas flap?
Or whatever it is called. Mine has come loose from it's attachment and no longer locks the access to the gas cap. I know it still works though because every time I lock the car I hear it strike the inside of the fender.
Do I go in from the hatch or take the wheel off and go in from the fender liner?? TIA! |

I don't think anyone knows.
I searched for answers to this after I bought my car used and found that the entire unit was down in the wheel well. I think it was acting up and the original owner had it punched through. Center console lock was unplugged as well. I decided to leave well enough alone. The gas flap lock won't stop anybody determined to steal your gas. They'll just bend up your car, and then steal your gas.

You can push that little pin in by blowing on it with enough air... I dont think that thing has enough strength to dent anything. The noise may be an annoyance, but I can not in a million years imagine it denting the car in any way. I dont know if that makes hearing the noise any easier but, if it really bothers you, why not spend $20 on the TIS and repair it or remove it

here's a pic
Here is a pic of what it looks like. I had both the liner and back fender off and it is really easy to get too. You "may" be able to get at it by just taking off the liner. if not keep going and pull the back fender.
