memory seats
What is up with the set memory? In all my previous cars with memory seats, all 11 , except the 2002tii of course, it worked like this: grab key and press unlock. By the time you get to the car, get garage open etc, the seat has moved and is in place. Same applies as you walk toward it in parking lot- unlock and seat is ready when you get there. Very handy in dark alley or parking lot.
On the 1er, the seat does not begin to move until you OPEN the door. So, when it is raining, you stand and wait for the seat to finish. So you stand there waiting for the mugger to arrive so you can get in. Now, obviously this does not apply to folks that only drive their own car. But my 135 is actually my wife's car, I am taller. So she can jump in and ride the seat forward to her proper driving position . Me not so much, as I do not fit until the seat is back in my position. Now, Why would BMW re-engineer a system that worked fine on e39/e46/e60/e9x etc, and in the process reduce the functionality for the e82.? is this some hidden code issue that can be fixed? |

My memory seat will only switch between option 1 & 2 after holding the button down until the entire process is complete. That is less automated than what you are describing lol
I also have "Comfort Access" am I doing something wrong?

I have comfort access, so it may be different, but I can set the seat to move on door unlock or on door open in the OBC menu.

That's good to know. When I get back into town I'm going to see if I can get this figured out. Thanks for the heads up! |

Where do you set the setting so that the seat adjusts when I unlock the door?

but i may be mistaken there. i have manual seats. For my manual seats, i just grab it on the shoulder lever and it pops up to go forward. then it resets back to the original position when you push it back.

well believe it or not the key is not tied to the numbers on the side. those are seperate memory postions that can be programmed. the memeroy is stored each time you turn off and lock the car for that key. so lets say you push the seat all the way forward start stop the car then lock it with key 1. Then you get in with key 2 and push the seat all the way back and then start stop the car and lock it. when you unlock the car again with key 1 it will move the seat all teh way forward. Lock the car and then hit unlock with key 2 it will move the seat all the way back. those are independent of the mem buttons. if you steo button 1 wth the seat all the way up and button number 2 with the seat all the way down. the key upon closign and locking the car will return to the location of the last place the seat was set with that KEY (1 or 2) regardless if the seat buttons are programmed differently or not.
Now as for how to configure the seat to move on unlock instead of door opening that is doen with the turn signal stalk. you will have to play with it a little to find the rght setting menu. I know there is a how to soemwhere for that.
