New Z4 owner

Hello, Just got my first bmw 1 week ago and I love it. 2005 Z4 with 28200 miles on it. I do have 3 concerns I could use some answers on please. 1st is the ignition switch turns hard to position 1 and 2 and its NOT the steering lock bound up. 2nd is the car wanders a lot on uneven roads, looks like the tires are run flats and could be the originals. Drives nice and straight on even roads. 3rd is the seats. They are in nice shape and don't look beat down like someone big has been in them but they do hurt the lower back after about an hour and I have a good back and can usually be in a car for hours and hours. Your input would be awesome and thank you!

1) maybe it needs lubrication? My 06 does not have this issue.
2)I would blame the tires. If you have not had a sports car before you may just be experiencing the added feel a car like the Z4 offers.
3)Probably a personal thing- do you have sport seats(image below) or regular?

First of all, congratZ on the new Z4

#1 is one I haven't heard before
#2 - ditch the run flats
#3 is a tough one. if there is something specific, you can always have an upholsterer add/remove some foam to your liking.

If you search on a few key words you will find lots of discussion on these topics. (except #1)

#2 is called tramlining. This is just something that happens with wider, high performance tires on uneven roads. Tends to worsen as the tire gets older. This has happened on all of my BMWs on the roads around here which tend to be crappy.

Hi and welcome to the club : )
Lots of info around these parts and nearly everyone is willing to help a Zedder.

Congrats again.

Just a question about your seat, if you push down on the bottom leather part where your butt goes is it supportive! Or is it just leather?
My foam departed from the hangers there and needed to be resprung.

Cheers

Thanks for all the input. As for now I will tackle the ignition switch, save for different tires then pull the seats and ? well who knows. Randy
