AUX Cable

I'm sure this has been covered ad nauseum before but my search skills fail me. For the AUX input cable (P/N 61122153331), there is nothing special about it other than the fact that it has a resistor and a couple of caps built in-line, correct?

Also, there is no cable that would give me steering wheel control of an mp3 'device' (mp3 player or smart phone) aside from an ipod?

TIA for humoring me.

I think your assumptions are correct. There are two kinds- a plain one as used in the MINI which can be attached anywhere and a special one which replaces the ashtray insert. As to steering wheel controls... Nope.

I have the replacement dash panel and the input receptacle from BMW available for sale, both brand new. I bought them with plans to install in my 06, then someone gave me the ash try version.

PM me if you're interested. I think I spent about $50+shipping, so I'd take $35 shipped. You would still need the cable that connects the input receptacle to the back of the radio, your local dealer is probably the easiest place to get it.
