Changed my oil today.
So, I changed my own oil for the first time ever today! I know.....big deal you say, but I am mildly proud of myself for such a seemingly small accomplishment.
The last oil change (and all previous oil changes since I've had the car) was done by my local BMW dealer. When I removed the drain plug, what came out? OIL, of course........a full 6 litres of oil! I guess this is just another case of finding out the hard way, why so many of you guys don't leave this service up to anyone but yourselves. Consider me converted! |

I did mine yesterday. I replaced my oem drain plug with a magnetic drain plug. I also took a sample to send to blackstone for an oil analysis.

Normally, you only have to put in 5.5 liters, but I know from experience that if you pull the oil pan, you need between 7 & 7.5 liters...
For those who do not know, the excepted wisdom for the S54 is not to fill the oil all the way up to the top mark but between 1/2 and 3/4. |
