Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and Wagon
This afternoon was suck-free: Went to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, to blast around the track in Caddie Vs on their dime
The star of the show was supposed to be the CTS-V Coupe, which admittedly doesn't suck. Big power pretty much instantly when you get on it, surprisingly stable in dynamic handling changes (e.g. esses), and good brakes. It was probably as much fun to drive on COTA as my M3 (well...actually nothing would be more fun than that, but close). But the wagon was fantastic! Almost as fast, and you're hauling ass around the course in a freakin' station wagon. If I needed something big (with a roof that stays up...), it might be that Cheers

I went to a dealer and saw the wagon-fell in love with it. I would not hesitate to purchase one. Just the resale sucks big time. I would rather own one like a year or two old.

Yeah, the V coupes are great but visibility sucks big time. Good thing it comes with blind spot warnings/lane change assist. I would take the sedan over the coupe and wagon though, I just like the styling and practicality more.

The current CTS-V wagon has the best look ever
Coupe looks kinda silly. We already saw the new CTS design, which looks like it's based on impala and it is a boat, HUGE.... Those who are into CTS, but the sedan and wagon now, the new design will suck

I saw four of the new generation CTS's on the road last week (I guess they were test cars since they're not on the market yet) and they looked very aggressive and amazing but the rear was a bit of a let down. I love the new design though and would easily take one of those over a BMW 5 series. And I'd take an ATS 3.6 over a BMW 335i.

I seriously considred a new CTS-V wagon when I repalced my 997S with the M3. We've got a kid (hence the sale of the Porsche) and a dog and use the space of a wagon (my wife's car is an A6 wagon). My wife said no way in hell to the idea of owning a Caddy. I just couldn't convince her. In the end, I made the right choice (esp. when you conisder how much $ I saved) but I have to admit... the CTS-V wagon is bad ass. The motor is incredible, the shocks really work (it drives much, much smaller than it is) but the interior is a let down. Even the optional Recaros are crap and the buttons/switches are all pretty marginal. The 6 speed; however, is quite a bit better than the unit in the M3... IMO.
It's one hell of a cool car that I don't think is long for this world. The days of big, superpowerful V8's are likely numbered. |
