So I have the option to buyout my fathers lease on a 2008 6 mt, 911 cabriolet turbo. Right now I'm leasing my '12 DCT M3 and was planning on buying it at the end but now with the news that his 08 can be mine for about 15k more than my m3 I think it's totally worth it. It has around 55k miles on it (should be close to 60k by next year) and since I know him as a driver it's a peace of mind to purchase it from him. Just wondering what you guys think. I've developed a strong connection with my M but the temptation of a turbo is too much to not consider.
Edit: more info
He has a few mods on it such as: quad exhaust, tune, v1 mirror, laser jammers, iPod integration and Bluetooth. Plus, just the fact of me knowing how well he takes care of his car makes me confident it'll last well into the 100k mark.
It still has 4 more years of warranty also

No question, turbo. Different ballgame in every aspect.

The Mezger engine is a marvel and masterpiece of an engine so no worries on miles.

60k is quite a bit of miles but the buyout is cheap and he has a few mods on it such as quad exhausts, tune, v1 mirror, laser jammers. Plus, just the fact of me knowing how well he takes car of his car makes me confident it'll last well into the 100k mark.
It still has 4 more years of warranty FYI

From my understanding, up to 2010 the turbos came with the Mezger engine which I've read is one of the best engines especially in manual. I'm sure oil changes are $200+ plus whatever else might happen. I'd say a safe bet is that maintenance only gets really expensive when something major happens which shouldn't, given the nature of the car but you never know

Go for it as long as you don't mind the soft top.

Looks like your M3 is pretty loaded.
Is this going to be a long time keeper (whether M3 or 911)?
If then, I would keep the M3.

From now on, you can always get a nice turbo car with accessible ecu tune to go fast, but you won't find a sweet NA engine anymore, sad but true

Plus, I usually don't like 911/turbo carbrio...if it were a coupe i would consider

Turbo, and save up for a better exhaust, those tips don't do the car justice imo.

Modding an m3 is pretty expensive but I'm sure it doesn't even compare to a turbo 911

A turbo 911 is my dream car and if I had the opportunity to get one that I knew was taken care of, I'd go for it.

Get the turbo. I did and never looked back. Good exhaust will cost you 5k.

Turbo and put bigger ones on it. You'll never look back, especially with the top down

47k. The advisor wanted to buy it off him but he offered it to me first which makes me really want to take the option. He's not planning to charge me for the mods which is great. The father discount
