I don't have a sunroof in mine and it doesn't bother me too much. Initially it did, as I came from a vert with no roof and it felt a little claustrophobic but now I don't mind at all.

I have one but hardly use it, as a matter of fact, I keep the shade closed. I would never buy one but I bought my BMW used.

I love not having one.
My Z4M doesn't have a sunroof, so when I bought my 128 it wasn't any huge jump. Love the weight savings and the reduced CG from not having one. |

It is a must for me. On track, I bet you could not see any difference in laptimes with one, and I only use the car for lapping, not racing, so who cares anyways?

I'd rather not have a sunroof....unfortunately the 135s all come with one (as far as I know)....a sacrifice I can easily make!

Not that anyone is talking about laptimes, but that must explain why track cars always remove it and weld/rivet in a panel to make it a hardtop.

Yes, it is purely about weight, and weight in the worst possible location (up high, raising the center of gravity) Removal also allows the rollcage to be built higher up directly against the roof, meaning more headroom in a roll over.
Also, most racing sanctioning bodies require that it be removed for safety, so no broken glass in a roll over. |

My other car doesn't have a sunroof and there are times I wish I had it. In my 1-er I never fully open it but just tilt it upwards to get some fresh air in. The only downside to a sunroof of course is the added weight at the worst part of the car.

And the significant headroom delete. And future reliability issues.

In terms of reliability, don't think that was ever an issue for any of my past cars (VW and Infiniti) nor even the Hyundai I drove in high school lmao. |

I wouldn't have bought the car if it didn't have a sunroof. I open mine 99.9% of the time when I'm driving. I love them so much that I almost had one installed in my other car - and you know what a pain it is to do that!

As much as i want to hate it for "racecar" reasons, i simply enjoy it too much. I love having it tilted with the windows open for the perfect amount of breeze in the cabin, and i love having the sun pour in from above me and brightening up the interior. overall i think it's worth it for me, especially as a DD. if it were a pure track car or play car, then no i wouldn't want one.
