iPhone hookup to display iDrive video
First off, i have searched and read a bunch of treads but there's a lot to digest and a lot of options. Here's my situation.
I have a 12 X5 without Apps or a DVD changer. From my testing with an iphone 5 and an ipod classic i cannot find a way to stream video via Bluetooth or through the armrest USB with just a cable. I already have coding to allow video in motion so that's ready to go. Lastly, i want to have my iphone in a mount at eye level and not in the arm rest. Are there any options for video short of installing a DVD changer? Thanks |

Both require extra hardware, so there's no coding-only option. Sorry

If you have a '12, you have the combox already. You just need coding to add 6NR, and an FSC code to unlock the functions.

^^ Its not that simple, the combox has tow HSD connections, one for 6Fl and one for unse with the cradle. He will need to run another cable from the combox to the center console.

And IIRC, the 6NR retrofit was ~$500 hardware item.

I think since you have s6fla nothing has has to be ran from the back of the truck. Just coding. I would reach out to http://www.bimmer-tech.net they know their stuff. My truck didn't have combox and I did the retrofit, no wires were ran from the back. All connections remained in the trunk.

You need this
61119200890 Fbas Video line from Baseplate to CIC for 6NR Video Like I said earlier there are two HSD cables, one for 6Fl and one for the 6NR video. I did my retro myself. You already have the combox. If you don't have 6NR and 6NF, you will need to pay for a FSC enabling code that gets imported into your CIC. If you don't have the snap in adapter in your arm rest, then you will need to run that FBAS cable from the armrest to the combox in the trunk. On the combox BLACK = 6FL (MP3 BY USB1 - IPOD, IPHONE, USB-DRIVE) BLU = 6NF (MP3 BY SNAP-IN FOR SMARTPHONE) PURPLE = 6NR (Supported Features, Video, Apps, PlugIn, Playback
