M Sport pack with wheel arch footboard : possible ?

Hi,

does anyboby have seen, or knows, if you can retrofit an "M Sport rear bumper" pre-LCI on a car that has no M Sport pack AND a footbar ?

My researches did not found any clear information.

because, if you go M Sport, they are different arches, having not the same design.

The non M arch continues down :

M Sport arch finishes straight, on the bumper :

Can anybody give his knowings or feedback on that ?

THANKS

i looked into this and could not find 1 msport or x5m with the footbar.
the x5m and msport share the same fender flares AND sideskirt (which is m/msport specific).
that being said, will they physically bolt on, yes, but the fenders (both front of rear wheels and behind the front wheel) where they meet the sideskirt/footbar will stick out about an inch.

Great post and good question. Also wanting to do this upgrade... But have yet to find any solid info on how to make it happen. Any knowledge would be a huge help!

Not going to work, everything will bolt up, but the arch will not line up with the running boards

This explained it all. I have done this conversion to mine

They clearly don't end the same and as I said there may be a 1 inch overhand at the fender flare.
I think on a dark car it will look fine. I think on a white car it may be too noticeable.
Also fyi everything I've read about the footbar is that everyone hates it. It is the same height as the door jam so it doesn't really help you step up and there are lots of complaints about that it gets your pant leg dirty and that's about it. If your going for looks then there are no agreements against it

oh tanks for all these informations.

for the oment the footbar looks great, because the one i bought as second hand, has he roof bars aluminium too. same for the window trims and the grills.

but i would like to take all that away, making all that black.
i first thought painting (by anodizng) the aluminium footbar.

but i will consider perhaps removing them. i only have it since 2 weeks, so not very used to the problems the foorbar could bring

after a research for something very else, i found that topic :
http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=828203

on the 3rd picture i can see what RaceTruk was talking about :

fender, near the footbar, comes out.

To not have that, perhaps cuting properly the non-M fender, to fit the Rear M Bumber could do the job.

Otherwise, i will need to take the footbars away ...

Hello,

Please take a look at my gallery. I own a X5 3.0sd with M-Package and the footboard. If you need I can take some better pictures. But in fact you can see that it looks nice (in my opinion). But of course it doesn´t fit in one line.

Greetings

Danke schön

Can I have a closer look of the rear wheel arch, near the footbar ?
Something more zoomed than your 3rd picture ...

So in retrospect it will fit with preLci wheel arches, it'll just stick out near the footboards correct? Anybody have a decent picture of what this might look like installed

As above they are the most useless foot boards ever, my wife complained about getting her pants dirty I drove it in the rain and got my pants covered in grime. They are too small to step on but to big to step over while getting out. You end up rubbing your pants against them I swapped mine out for the narrow side skirts....it's my best mod yet.

3 weeks after buying my X5, i slowly start to understand what you're talking about ... the only thing, when you have it stock (stock i say) like mine, black & aluminium parts, it brings something to the visual effects.
but i will let the time go on, and i will advise this spring

I think it looks cleaner without the alum...most people want to paint or powder coat the aluminum anyway.

it's certainly psychological, but the footbar adds something on the overall look ... for the moment i always think that. i will try a photoshop to powder coat it on your 1st pic

is it lowered with your 1.2'' H&R, which are more 2'' than 1.2'' ? Am I right ?
