Illuminated 6MT shift knob?
Hi guys, I have seen a few random pics on google of MT BMWs with the shift pattern illuminated. I've seen them being sold by third parties, but I've already read that it's OEM by BMW at least on certain models. Do they still do this, and specifically for the F80/82? I think it looks cool, I am going to get the M tri color shift boot and the illuminated knob would look cool too!

Nice! I am just wondering if the F80/82 will also be doing this. Also curious why there are 3rd party one's for sale, if it came from the factory? not sure what the difference is

It didn't come from the factory on early E36's. Maybe the ones you're seeing for sale are for E36 retrofits? Or, maybe E9x guys are just replacing their old and worn nobs with new ones?

The 3rd party illuminated knob for E9X you're talking about is a ZCP knob which is not the same as stock (illuminated). ZCP can be had in either illuminated or non illuminated fashion...it is also shorter and weighted a little more than hollow stock knob.

I'd be surprised in the shift knob in the F8x is not illuminated, as this has been the case for all recent Ms that I have seen (including my E39 M5 and Z4M coupe).

Very nice! I know a lot of people complain about the M badges in the seat that illuminate, but I think it's dope I like little touches like that in a special car like this. I am assuming the 1M had this as well?

Actually, now that you mention it...no, the 1M did not. But a lot of owners popped on the F10 M5 knob, which is illuminated.
